ANIMAL CONTROL SHELTER ATTENDANT
Bladen County Animal Control has an opening for a Part Time Shelter Attendant. This position will be responsible for cleaning shelter, feeding animals, assisting with adoptions and greeting the public. Position will also be responsible for administrative paperwork on animal received and adopted through the shelter.
Experience: Graduation from high school. Computer skills preferred.

STATUS: PERMANENT FULL TIME / UP TO 37.5 HRS PER WEEK
DESCRIPTION:
Services at this level are intended to provide support to individuals / families who require assistance with basic home managements tasks, such as the following: Shopping, Clean / care for clothing; ironing, simple mending, and laundering. Do basic housekeeping tasks: (Sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, dishes, etc.) Recognize / report changes in health / environment. Identify medications for client; Prepare simple meals; Shop for food from verbal or written instruction; Observe / report symptoms of abuse, neglect, illness, etc. to proper channel. Clients served are in White Oak, White Lake and Elizabethtown areas.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Must meet competency requirements (a correct demonstration of the tasks to be performed.) Must provide own transportation.

Job Title –Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Level
General Statement of Job
Perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician at the paramedic level; operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and administering appropriate emergency medical care to patients while enroute to a hospital. Employee is responsible for responding to the scene of emergency and non-emergency calls, applying necessary medical treatment to sick or injured persons and transporting persons to a medical facility. Employee is exposed to the normal hazards of emergency rescue work, including risk of exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. Employee reports to the Supervisor of Emergency Medical Services.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician at the paramedic level by administering Advanced Life Support emergency and non emergency medical care to patients and operating an approved mobile medical unit, rescuing victims and administering appropriate emergency medical care to patients while enroute to a hospital.
Transport emergency and non-emergency patients from hospitals to their homes; transport from a local medical facility to a specified medical center or from their residences to a medical facility.
Complete Ambulance Call Report, Narrative and any additional documentation as required.
Minimum Training and Experience
Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Boards as an Emergency Medical Technician –Paramedic Level.
Must possess ACLS, BTLS, PALS and CPR Certification.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Must participates in a continuous training program to improve competence in medical clinical work and in ambulance service and operations; maintains knowledge of new or modified operational protocols and procedures; studies street and road patterns and networks of the County in order that future runs may be made with minimum difficulty and delay.
Special Requirements
Must be able to lift 300 pounds with assistance.
Have some geographical knowledge of the county.
Must be able to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
Transports non-emergency/convalescent patients as required.
Additional Job Functions
Perform other related work as required.

Part time EMT ($10.72 hourly rate)
Part time EMT –I ($11.80 hourly rate)
Description:
Under the general direction of an EMS Supervisor, perform the duties of an Emergency Medical Technician by administering emergency, non-emergency, transport/convalescent, medical and ambulance services of the County. Complete Ambulance Call Reports, Narratives and other documentation as required.
Must be able to work rotating shifts to include day, night, weekends and holidays.
Education, Training & Experience:
Individuals with a Certification by the North Carolina Medical Examiners Boards as an Emergency Medical Technician & EMT-I.
CPR certification.
EMT-I (Must obtain ACLS, ITLS, & Pals certification.)
High school diploma or GED
Valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Participate in appropriate continuing education program.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of occupational and county policies, regulations and guidelines. Ability to promote good public relations and work with citizens, doctors and hospital employees; ability to perform the physical activities required, to include, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pulling, stooping, walking and other physical exertions of 300 pounds of force with assistance
